Helix, conch, tragus, rook, daith: ear piercing names are easy to mix up, and most people know the look they want long before they know what it is called.
Here is where each one sits on the ear, with prices from our piercing studio in Uluwatu. Every price includes the jewelry.
The lobe
- Standard lobe (IDR 500K): the soft lower part of the ear, and the classic first piercing.
- Upper lobe (IDR 500K): higher up the lobe, above a standard lobe piercing.
- Ear stretching (IDR 850K): gradually increasing the size of a lobe piercing.
The outer rim
- Helix (IDR 600K): the upper outer rim of the ear.
- Forward helix (IDR 700K): the front of the upper rim, just above where the ear meets the face.
- Industrial (IDR 800K): two points on the upper ear joined by a single long bar.
The inner ear
- Tragus (IDR 600K): the small flap in front of the ear canal.
- Flat (IDR 600K): the flat area of the upper ear, inside the rim.
- Conch (IDR 700K): the inner bowl of the ear.
- Rook (IDR 700K): the ridge in the upper inner ear.
- Daith (IDR 700K): the innermost fold, just above the ear canal.
Building a curated ear
A curated ear is a set of piercings planned to look good together, usually a mix of lobe and rim or inner-ear placements.
You do not have to get them all at once. Many people start with one or two and add to the set on a later visit.
Bring photos of ears you like. Your piercer can tell you what works with the shape of your ear.
